Abstract/Description
A wide shot of one row of Filipino prisoners squatting in front of a row of standing prisoners with a large white building in the background.
According to W.C. Darrah in Stereo Views, by the turn of the 20th Century stereographs were so popular that there were very few households without a viewer and a small collection of cards. Their popularity is due to the fact that stereographs provided a cheap, effective, educational, and entertaining way for people to see the world without having to leave their home. Although the majority of the stereo images of the Philippines are of images of war, the natural landscape, natives, agriculture, and industries were also exposed (W.C. Darrah, The World of Stereographs).
None of the Strohmeyer & Wyman stereographs are marked with identifying numbers. From the Klamm collection.
